Tarrington Congregation – St Michaels

A brief history

Tarrington Lutheran Church was established in 1853 by Lutherans who emigrated from Prussia.
The settlement was originally called Hochkirch, meaning church on a hill.
The current church building was dedicated in 1928.
The Bells in the church were the largest in the Southern Hemisphere, and are still rung 1/2 hour prior to worship, and immediately prior to worship.
Music is provided during worship services by an organist on the Pipe Organ, or the band ‘Living Sounds’.
